| 内容記述 | This paper reports on a voluntary, extensive reading program during the summer vacation period in which participants were not assigned a grade. When a target word count was set for each session and for the entire period, 13 out of 37 participants reached the overall goal, with some participants reading up to 430,000 words. On the other hand, eleven participants read continuously, and only four achieved the target for each session, indicating the difficulty of continuous reading and the importance of support from teachers. In addition, most participants responded positively to the program, indicating that the highly satisfactory extensive reading program could be implemented even during the summer holidays. Furthermore, while many participants read e-books and many of them mentioned the Internet-based extensive reading course as the ideal mode of implementation, it was clear that more participants preferred paper books. Finally, four tips for continuing to read were identified: (1) establishing a method and environment for making a habit of reading, (2) designing a method and environment for enjoying reading, (3) setting goals and a way of proceeding that suits readers, and (4) maintaining motivation. | |||||||||
