| 内容記述 | The purpose of this article is to discuss the process by which “Articles concerning Welfare and Guidance" were incorporated into University Standards under the new university system by focusing on deliberation process of the “Student Welfare and Guidance Research Committee"（Gakusei shidou kenkyuu iinkai）of the Association of Private Universities of Japan from October 1950 to March 1951. Currently, “Welfare and Guidance" facilities, also called “Student affairs and services," are considered important in Japanese universities. In June 1951, University Standards added the requirement for each university to establish a full-time agency to deal with “welfare and guidance." The Japan University Accreditation Association and some previous studies have published detailed analyses of the process by which “Articles concerning Welfare and Guidance" were added to University Standards under the new university system. However, these publications and studies did not focus on the discussion process of the “Student Welfare and Guidance Research Committee" of the Association of Private Universities of Japan. In this study, I have analyzed the topic based on primary documents which I unearthed and collected. The results are as follows: First, the “Student Welfare and Guidance Research Committee" of the Association of Private Universities of Japan discussed the incorporation of the “Articles concerning Welfare and Guidance" into University Standards. Second, “Articles concerning Welfare and Guidance" was institutionalized under the new university system by the involvement of the Association of Private Universities of Japan as well as the Japan University Accreditation Association. This analysis contributes to our understanding of the institutional foundation of “Student affairs and survival" that developed in higher education in Japan. | |||||||||
