内容記述
内容記述 We shall not fail to notice the existence of the yin-i in the`, history of Chinese philosophy, since it had a strong connection with its political world. However, at first thought we may be puzzled to understand the relations between the yin-i and the political world, in that they are imagined to have kept aloof from common social life and tried to live their own way, according to their own faith. Nevertheless, in fact, they were even admired in not a few prominent Chinese classics which are considered to have been supporting virtue in the Chinese political world. This may be attributable to the fact that the yin-i ostensibly seems to have enjoyed an anti-social life, but virtually their lives were not contradictory in any way to the proper course of the political world of ancient China. In this paper the author tries to introduce various materials relevant to the yin-i in a bid to clarify their personality, specifically referring to Hsien-wen-p'ien 憲問篇 and Wei-tzu-p'ien 微子篇 of the Analects of Confucius, because those two chapters seem to be the most appropriate materials to help study the origin of the-yin-i. Some scholars, however, opine that the above mentioned two chapters were influenced by the thought of Taoism. Therefore, the personalities appearing in those two chapters should not be observed from one angle only. The author agrees with this viewpoint, but attempts to clarify the undermentioned two points in that to do so will lighten 'the personality of the yin-i. 1. The viewpoint expressed in Wei-tzu-p'ien is not much opposed to the philosophy of Confucius. 2. The contents of Wei-tzu-p'ien do not deny the idea of the Analects wholly. Therefore, to jump at the conclusion that the viewpoint of Wei-tzu-p'ien stemmed from the philosophy of Taoism seems to be too hasty.
