内容記述 | While in Mühlhausen, J.S.Bach was the organist at St. Brasius Church. In his time, the musicians were closely integrated into social structure and circumstances. Bach is not exception. In those days, Mühlhausen was a medium imperial free city under the control of the emperor. But, the city council and lord mayor held real power which was assured by emperor, and also they were given special rights by emperor, for example the unique tax system and administration of justice. And the fact that city scale was medium made Mühlhausen exclusive and conservative like other general german medium or smaller city. In my paper, I will show that Bach's musical activity and his works reflect these social nature of Mühlhausen with his resignation handed to the city council in 1708 and with two cantata works surly composed at Mühlhausen times, cantata Aus der Tiefen rufe ich Herr BWV131 and Gott ist mein Konig BWV71. In the resignation, Bach described some vexations and hindarnces attributed to Mühlhausen's social nature. BWV131 can be performed by five performers. This attribute to that the number of performer was limited to five per one church by city council who held real power over musical policy and was indifference to music. And the words of BWV71 was mostly constructed of Bible according to a plan to praise Holy Roman Emperor "Joseph" (actually, the words of the cantata include this name) and to appeal city's calm, which was kept by exclusive and conservative nature of Mühlhausen's society and by the emperor. Bach composed music of this cantata according to the plan as the words, too. | |||||||||
