| 内容記述 | This book systematically organizes and describes various documents and materials obtained through consistent research on higher education in US-Occupied Okinawa, 1945-1972 along with their location information at the holding universities and institutions, and the corresponding bibliographic details. This research involved intensive collection of various relevant documents and primary materials both domestically and internationally. Specfically, documents and materials were collected from public libraries and public archives in Okinawa, and from university libraries in US (e.g. university archives and historical collections of Michigan State University). The Book has six chapters and includes appendix materials, chronology, and bibliography. Chapter 1 describes an “Overview of Higher Education in Occupied Okinawa”. Chapter 2 focuses on the “Collection and Organization of Materials Related to Higher Education in US-Occupied Okinawa” . Chapter 3 analyzes the “Establishment and Development of Higher Education Institutions in US-Occupied Okinawa”. Chapter 4 discusses the “Higher Educational Foundation: Focusing on Activities and Roles of Ryukyu Scholarship Society (Ryukyu Ikuei-kai)” . Chapter 5 considers the “Okinawan Higher Education in Local Government Histories within Okinawa Prefecture” . Chapter 6 focuses on the “Meanings of Higher Education in US-Occupied Okinawa for Reversion of Okinawa to Japan” . In the field of higher education research in US-Occupied Okinawa, 1945-1972, empirical studies based on primary sources have scarcely been conducted to date. This book will enable us to overcome limitations in historical documents and materials by conducting challenging research on higher education research in US-Occupied Okinawa, 1945-1972. |
