There is a need to develop and utilize natural phenomena and objects from various regions as teaching materials. Therefore, we attempted to develop and implement science teaching materials that utilize local educational resources, such as identifying the characteristics of the weather in the Mihara area based on meteorological data in the area. AMeDAS (Automated Meteorological Data Acquisition System) is a familiar weather observation device operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency, but there is no AMeDAS installed in the central Mihara. Therefore, we introduced and installed a weather observation system to replace it at HU Mihara Schools, and conducted lessons that utilized weather data obtained from it, including AMeDAS. This initiative has become a learning activity that involves scientific inquiry, providing an opportunity to use scientific perspectives and ways of thinking, and we believe it has demonstrated one way of developing science teaching materials. |
