| 内容記述 | With the rapid development and spread of AI, in 2023 Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) issued the notice On the Handling of Generative AI in Educational Contexts at Universities and Colleges of Technology. Universities have also begun drafting their own guidelines on the use of AI, but many of these primarily list points of caution and warnings, while offering relatively few concrete directives for action. This paper compares the guidelines on generative AI usage at universities in Japan and Germany, with particular attention to the kinds of information German universities provide to their students. The guidelines created by German universities are more specific than those of Japanese universities. For example, when students use generative AI in writing papers or reports, they are required to record how the AI was used and to submit a written declaration of that usage together with their work. Some guidelines also note that the use of generative AI places a burden on the environment, which is noteworthy from the perspective of research ethics. |
