| 内容記述 | This study examines Okinawan parents’ choices of early childhood education facilities,with a focus on the unique 1-year kindergarten program for 5-year-olds. It aims to identifyinfluencing factors, to understand parental awareness of and needs related to the transition toelementary school, and to offer nationwide implications. Survey results show that Kodomoen (acombined institution integrating the functions of kindergarten and daycare) parents prioritizeelementary school preparation and co-location with elementary school, actively seeking a smoothtransition. They highly value children developing cooperative attitudes in a group, which alignswith their expectations of larger elementary school class sizes. Conversely, Hoikuen (a daycarecenter primarily aimed at supporting working parents) parents emphasize a rich childcareenvironment and current quality of life, indicating diverse selection criteria beyond direct schoolpreparation. This rich environment likely encompasses complex expectations for both schoolrelationships and atmosphere. In short, Okinawan parents actively construct their children’s transition process frompreschool to elementary school by making informed facility choices based on their values.Understanding these diverse parental motivations is crucial for effective early childhood-toelementaryschool transition support. | |||||||||||||
