| 内容記述 | In recent years, along with social developments, shifting gender perceptions, andchanges in family labor structures, paternal involvement in child-rearing has become anincreasingly prominent topic in Chinese society. Fathers’ participation in parenting is now a morecommon phenomenon than ever before. Traditionally, research on children’s languagedevelopment—and, more broadly, on child development—has predominantly focused onmothers, positioning fathers as secondary or supportive figures. Studies that specifically examinethe role of fathers remain relatively scarce. Against this backdrop of limited research on fathers inChina, the present study investigates the relationship between paternal involvement and children’slanguage development through a questionnaire-based survey of 122 families from five kindergartensin Beijing. The findings suggest that paternal involvement has a measurable impact on children’slanguage development, with a more pronounced effect observed in girls compared to boys. Theresults also indicate the importance of sustained paternal engagement in parenting. Moreover, thestudy highlights the significance of fathers’ indirect involvement through supporting maternalmental health. Finally, ensuring sufficient daily verbal interaction with children under the age offour, along with appropriate physical contact with boys, has a significant impact on thedevelopment of motor-related language skills. | |||||||||||||
