| 内容記述 | This study investigates how children engage with nature at a Japanese forestkindergarten, a concept adapted from Europe but redefined in Japan to include diverse naturalsettings beyond forests. Unlike Western models, Japan’s approach reflects cultural andenvironmental adaptations, yet little of the extant research explores these localized practices.Through participant observation and a cross-cultural lens (as a Chinese researcher), this studyuncovers two distinctive practices. The first is peer-guided risk negotiation: Children collaborativelyassess natural play equipment’s risks while inventing creative play methods. The second isroutine-mediated nature interaction: Daily tasks (e.g., role-based duties) facilitate direct contactwith flora/fauna, fostering stewardship. The study’s findings suggest that Japan’s forestkindergartens merge imported pedagogy with domestic values, emphasizing collective learningand subtle nature integration. This study contributes to transcultural early childhood educationresearch by highlighting context-dependent adaptations. | |||||||||||||
