内容記述 This study reviewed 108 music education papers on the connection between preschool and elementary school in Japan and highlighted four key points. Firstly, academic conference discussions regarding this connection have led to an increased number of papers in the field. Secondly, a considerable number of studies focused on practical aspects, educational materials, and international practices and curricula. Thirdly, most papers focused on early childhood education within the context of preschool-elementary school connection. Additionally, before 2017, there were a noteworthy number of studies that addressed issues on both sides of preschool and elementary school. However, challenges were identified, notably the limited presence of original papers in peerreviewed national academic journals. Out of the 108 reviewed studies, only three fell into this category, indicating a potential problem in the quality and accessibility of research in the field. The prevalence of research in university bulletin papers may suggest that the discussion around the connection between preschool and elementary schools in Japan is not as robust as it should be, Furthermore, the study emphasized a significant deficiency in theoretical research related to the connection between preschool and elementary schools. We need a study that is based on theory and can make recommendations for policies such as the “Bridge Program.” To strengthen the existing knowledge on practices, teaching materials, and curricula, the paper advocates for the development and promotion of theories applicable to this connection. In conclusion, the organization of this paper sheds light on the perspectives that music education research has taken on the connection between preschool and elementary schools. Moving forward, the study encourages the accumulation of findings from ongoing music education research in this field, emphasizing the need for high-quality, theoretically driven original papers to contribute to the discourse and policy recommendations in music education.
