内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 A variety of music materials, including textbooks and supplementary materials, are used in music classes. While previous studies have explored the use and significance of these supplementary materials, the specific reasons behind selecting certain music materials and their relationship with teaching objectives remain unclear. Teacher’s selection of music materials is influenced by diverse criteria, such as personal experiences and the enhancement of student learning outcomes. Therefore, in this study, we conducted interview surveys with music teachers to investigate their selection of music pieces and the alignment of these choices with their educational philosophies. First, based on previous research, we clarified the actual situation regarding the use of music in music classes, and after capturing the characteristics of music published in textbooks, we discussed the significance and purpose of using music from textbooks and non-textbooks in music classes. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with three junior high school music teachers regarding their selection processes. The survey findings revealed the teachers’ views on education and music, motives for music selection, and actual practice. We also found that teachers’ experiences influence their music selection, there is a relationship between teachers’ views on education and music and their selection of teaching materials, and there are differences and similarities among teachers in their music selection. In addition, we found that teachers consider various aspects of music selection, such as “regional characteristics,” “students’ actual conditions,” “educational viewpoints,” and “experience,” and that each teacher has his or her own preferred music selection practice. For three teachers in the study, the music in the textbooks was easy to use, and teachers chose music other than those in the textbooks for their own reasons,
even after having agreed with the usefulness of some music in the textbooks.
