| 内容記述 | At Hiroshima University’s Faculty of Education, students across different academic years participate in opera production as part of a course named “Opera Practicum,” which adopts a project-based learning approach. The present study focused on the planning and execution of outreach concerts as a pedagogical approach employed by an opera production instructor. The study sought to identify the commonalities and differences between this approach and the learning experience derived from regular opera performances by analyzing students’ narratives. The students’ narratives were analyzed using the Trajectory Equifinality Model (TEM) and inductive thematic analysis. The findings revealed how the knowledge acquired from previous opera productions was applied during the preparation process for the outreach concerts. During “Phase I: Individual Preparation,” students could anticipate the time required for rehearsals and knew how to derive enjoyment from the opera production process. In “Phase III: Preparation for the Finishing Touches,” drawing from their prior experience in opera production, students thought about what they needed to do even without specific role assignments. This was possible due to their previously acquired knowledge about various tasks pertaining to costumes, props, and other aspects of opera production. In essence, the instructor’s objective of providing a comprehensive learning experience through opera production was achieved. Moreover, the analyses of the students’ reflections revealed that they gained the perspective of not only a student involved in opera production but also that of an educator and a leader in opera production. In conclusion, the findings indicate that the planning and execution of the outreach concerts enhanced and broadened students’ knowledge and learning experience. | |||||||||||||||||
