| 内容記述 | In 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II marks a significant milestone, expected to rekindle public interest in both Japan and China regarding grassroots-level exchanges and mutual understanding. It also serves as an opportunity to reassess the position of Chinese returnees. This study does not focus on the so-called “war orphans” but rather targets the third and fourth generations of returnees, who represent a significant social issue in contemporary Japan. Through the lens of family histories of Chinese returnees, the author explores the identity and potential of these individuals. Interviews were conducted with third- and fourth-generation Chinese returnees, who, while inheriting their family histories, are simultaneously shaping new narratives as a new generation. Specifically, this research examines the individual lives of these third-and fourth-generation returnees to shed light on how they perceive their Chinese roots and how they confront their family and historical pasts. From this perspective, the study analyzes the ways in which they have formed their identities and seeks to present the diversity and potential they bring to Japanese society. |
