This study aims toidentify and critically analyze discourses and beliefs underpinning the establishment and maintenance ofeducation-focused academic careers as a new form of the academic profession. It applies the CriticalDiscourse Study approach to examine discursive practices of one education-focused academic in Australia asa process that pervasively transforms widely accepted discourse surrounding academic profession.
