| 内容記述 | The present paper aims to investigate the possibility of improving the text of the Tarkabhāṣāprakāśikā (TBhP), a commentary on the Tarkabhāṣā, the principal compendium of Nyāya philosophy, in order to fix the problems found in the available edition of TBhP. The study is based on manuscripts preserved at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI). The TBhP is regarded as an important text for understanding the development of debates between the Nyāya school and other philosophical schools. However, the only edition available, published in the Bombay Sanskrit and Prakrit Series (BSPS), has many problems, making it difficult to study the TBhP properly. The paper focuses on the discussion of abhāva (non-existence or absence) as a means of valid cognition (pramāṇa) in the context of the TBhP. The concept of abhāva has been important in Indian philosophy and has been the significant subject of disputation between various schools of Indian thought. However, the explanation of abhāva in the classical Nyāya school is still not fully clear. The main aim of this study is to prepare for a more accurate reconstruction and detailed interpretation of the portion of the TBhP that deals with abhāva, using six manuscripts housed at BORI. These six manuscripts include the A, B, and C manuscripts used in the edition, and the D, E, and F manuscripts, which were not used in the edition. The text and its apparatus of the edition are not reliable, which makes it difficult to understand the philosophical arguments in the TBhP correctly. The paper will compare the different readings of the manuscripts and correct the errors in the edition by using the more reliable readings found in these manuscripts. By presenting a more accurate text of abhāva in TBhP, this research hopes to make a modest progress in understanding the discussion on abhāva in the Nyāya school, including its development and the debates with other schools, as recorded in the TBhP. The result of this paper is expected to be a step towards a deeper understanding of the arguments of abhāva in the classical Nyāya school through the TBhP and its textual importance in the history of Indian thought. |
