The Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA), a federal university in Brazil, located near the borders of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, was established in 2010 within the framework of MERCOSUL. Its mission is to contribute to Latin American integration, regional development, and the promotion of cultural, scientific, and educational exchange in Latin America, particularly within MERCOSUL. UNILA aims to provide higher education, foster research across various fields of study, and promote the expansion of the university's scope and influence.\nThis paper focuses on UNILA, analyzing its characteristics through its history, educational content, and student intake. It draws data for this analysis from academic papers, regulations, UNILA's official website, and materials obtained during a field survey conducted on February 27, 2024.\nThe findings are as follows: First, UNILA represents a university model distinct from those in Europe or Asia and unique to Latin America, adopting an original approach that incorporates the perspectives of the colonized and the oppressed in its academic structure, teaching languages, and admissions processes. Second, UNILA is characterized as a university that embraces socially vulnerable groups. It offers admission slots specifically for indigenous peoples, refugees, and holders of humanitarian visas, welcoming students from a wide range of regions beyond Latin America and the Caribbean. This creates an inclusive and diverse educational environment where students of various nationalities, ethnicities, and social backgrounds engage in education and research. Third, UNILA exemplifies a university that draws students across borders. Rather than emphasizing inter-university collaborations such as mutual degree recognition or credit transfer systems across countries, UNILA focuses on attracting students with diverse nationalities, ethnicities, and cultures, primarily from Latin America.\nThrough these characteristics, UNILA emerges as more than a space for geographical or linguistic integration of Latin America as a continent or the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world. It aspires to be a place where the historically shared knowledge and consciousness of the oppressed within these regions are integrated. However, as a new institution that has only recently begun its journey toward realizing these ideals, challenges remain, including issues such as how credits earned at UNILA will be recognized outside Brazil and the value placed on UNILA degrees.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_1617186643794":{"attribute_name":"Publisher","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"広島大学教育開発国際協力研究センター","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"Center for the Study of International Cooperation in Education","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_1617186702042":{"attribute_name":"Language","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_1617186819068":{"attribute_name":"Identifier Registration","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15027/0002040405","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_1617186901218":{"attribute_name":"Funding Reference","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_award_numbers":{"subitem_award_number":"23H00067","subitem_award_uri":"https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/grant/KAKENHI-PROJECT-23H00067/"},"subitem_award_titles":[{"subitem_award_title":"アジア・アフリカ諸国の初等中等教育における学習成果改善機構の可変性と復元性","subitem_award_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_award_title":"Transformability and Recoverability of the Learning Improvement Structures in Basic education in Asian and African countries","subitem_award_title_language":"en"}],"subitem_funder_identifiers":{"subitem_funder_identifier_type":"Crossref Funder","subitem_funder_identifier_type_uri":"https://doi.org/10.13039/501100001691"},"subitem_funder_names":[{"subitem_funder_name":"日本学術振興会","subitem_funder_name_language":"ja"},{"subitem_funder_name":"Japan Society for the Promotion of Science","subitem_funder_name_language":"en"}]}]},"item_1617186920753":{"attribute_name":"Source Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1344-2996","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"},{"subitem_source_identifier":"1344-7998","subitem_source_identifier_type":"EISSN"},{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA11281847","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_1617187056579":{"attribute_name":"Bibliographic Information","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2024-10-31","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicIssueNumber":"1","bibliographicNumberOfPages":"14","bibliographicPageEnd":"48","bibliographicPageStart":"35","bibliographicVolumeNumber":"27","bibliographic_titles":[{"bibliographic_title":"国際教育協力論集","bibliographic_titleLang":"ja"},{"bibliographic_title":"Journal of international cooperation in education","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_1617258105262":{"attribute_name":"Resource Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_1617265215918":{"attribute_name":"Version Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_1617605131499":{"attribute_name":"File","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2025-04-22"}],"filename":"JICE_27-1_35.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.3 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://hiroshima.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2040405/files/JICE_27-1_35.pdf"},"version_id":"86ffe5da-5ca4-4c9c-9674-6add60f0c02b"}]},"item_1617620223087":{"attribute_name":"Heading","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"研究論文","subitem_heading_language":"ja"},{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"Article","subitem_heading_language":"en"}]},"item_title":"ブラジルのラテンアメリカ統合連邦大学(UNILA) : 地域統合に向けた大学の姿","item_type_id":"40036","owner":"7","path":["1744871493545"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2025-04-22"},"publish_date":"2025-04-22","publish_status":"0","recid":"2040405","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["ブラジルのラテンアメリカ統合連邦大学(UNILA) : 地域統合に向けた大学の姿"],"weko_creator_id":"7","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-05-08T06:07:42.783006+00:00"}
