Inokuma spent the following two decades in the New York art world, where Abstract Expressionism and consequent movements such as Neo-Dada and Pop Art prevailed. The famous Willard Gallery in New York represented his work from 1956. Inokuma’s personal relationships – inseparable from the US–Japan relations during the Cold War – led him to this fortune. Additionally, the growing interest in Asian culture was behind his works’ positive reception in the late 1950s. Notably, East Asian calligraphy captivated the New York art world in its search for advancing abstraction in art. Instead of settling for the status quo, however, Inokuma threw himself into the booming New York art world and actively pursued further new styles of painting. The repetitive patterns that signified Inokuma’s painting from the mid-1960s onwards suggest that his interactions with contemporary American artists influenced him to experiment with familiar materials such as the packaging of daily products. Subsequently, he revisited ‘abstraction’ beyond the 1950s calligraphy. By socio-culturally contextualising Inokuma’s works and practices from 1955 to the mid-1960s, this paper aims to consider Inokuma’s place within the diverse developments of post-war American art.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"},{"subitem_description":"本稿準備段階で松下幸之助記念志財団より研究助成をいただきました(研究題目:「アメリカ在住初期の猪熊弦一郎のモダニズム:芸術の社会性と抽象的造形をめぐって」)。","subitem_description_language":"ja","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_1617186643794":{"attribute_name":"Publisher","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"広島大学大学院人間社会科学研究科欧米文化研究会","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"The Association for the Research of European and American Cultures Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences Hiroshima University","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_1617186702042":{"attribute_name":"Language","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_1617186819068":{"attribute_name":"Identifier Registration","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15027/0002040211","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_1617186901218":{"attribute_name":"Funding Reference","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_award_numbers":{"subitem_award_number":"23K12055","subitem_award_uri":"https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/grant/KAKENHI-PROJECT-23K12055/"},"subitem_award_titles":[{"subitem_award_title":"抽象表現主義世代のエスニック・マイノリティ:異文化との出会いと「他者」への眼差し","subitem_award_title_language":"ja"}],"subitem_funder_identifiers":{"subitem_funder_identifier_type":"Crossref Funder","subitem_funder_identifier_type_uri":"https://doi.org/10.13039/501100001691"},"subitem_funder_names":[{"subitem_funder_name":"日本学術振興会","subitem_funder_name_language":"ja"},{"subitem_funder_name":"Japan Society for the Promotion of Science","subitem_funder_name_language":"en"}]}]},"item_1617186920753":{"attribute_name":"Source Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN10583886","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_1617187056579":{"attribute_name":"Bibliographic Information","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2024-12-17","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicNumberOfPages":"18","bibliographicPageEnd":"40","bibliographicPageStart":"23","bibliographicVolumeNumber":"31","bibliographic_titles":[{"bibliographic_title":"欧米文化研究","bibliographic_titleLang":"ja"},{"bibliographic_title":"Studies in European and American Cultures","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_1617258105262":{"attribute_name":"Resource Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_1617265215918":{"attribute_name":"Version Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_1617605131499":{"attribute_name":"File","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2025-03-26"}],"filename":"OubeiBunkaKenkyu_31_23.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://hiroshima.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2040211/files/OubeiBunkaKenkyu_31_23.pdf"},"version_id":"112197d4-2204-41fe-ae4c-e164921256f4"}]},"item_1617620223087":{"attribute_name":"Heading","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"論文","subitem_heading_language":"ja"},{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"Articles","subitem_heading_language":"en"}]},"item_title":"ニューヨークの猪熊弦一郎 : 1955年から1960年代半ばの造形の模索を中心に","item_type_id":"40036","owner":"79","path":["1742256811182"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2025-03-26"},"publish_date":"2025-03-26","publish_status":"0","recid":"2040211","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["ニューヨークの猪熊弦一郎 : 1955年から1960年代半ばの造形の模索を中心に"],"weko_creator_id":"79","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-05-08T04:41:56.355295+00:00"}
