Each of four university classes, totaling 81 first-year students in Japan, was matched up with one of four classes totaling 79 students in Taiwan, the US, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The students engaged in a “cross-culture discussion\" for 10 weeks. The popularity of using Facebook was measured by A) A review of the literature, B) Counting the number of words students wrote, and C) Student-teacher questionnaires. It was found that some students—especially English majors—liked using Facebook, while about half of all the non-English majors rarely or never engaged in it.
