| 内容記述 | 本研究は，現代民主主義論と市民的資質および社会科授業との関連性を明らかにすることを目的とする。本研究では現代民主主義論として，間接民主制を代表する「エリート民主主義」および直接民主制を代表する「参加民主主義」，「熟議民主主義」，「闘技民主主義」を取り上げた。現代民主主義論と市民的資質および社会科授業との関連性の分析を行う際には，ロバート. A. ダールの『ポリアーキー（Polyarchy）』における「参加」と「競争（対抗）」概念に着目した。本研究を通じて，以下の2点を明らかにすることができた。①現代民主主義論が細分化して語られるようになり，授業者が支持する民主主義論が異なるため，目指す市民的資質や社会科授業に差異が生じていること。②授業者は，それぞれの現代民主主義論の長所と短所を理解しながら，「参加」と「競争（対抗）」の一辺倒に偏ることなく，両者をふまえた学習目標の設定や授業の計画を行うべきこと。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to clarify the relationship between modern democracy, desirable citizenship and social studies classes. In this paper, following modern democracy theory, “Elite democracy" (representing indirect democracy), as well as “Participatory democracy," “Radical democracy," and “Agonistic democracy" (representing direct democracy) were covered. When analyzing the relationship between contemporary democracy, citizenship and social studies classes, we focused on the concepts of “participation" and “contestation" presented in Dahl’s “Polyarchy." In this study, the following two points were clarified: 1) Because modern democracy theory has various subdivisions and teachers follow different strands of democracy theory, there are differences in the criteria used to define the desired type of citizenship and, thus, in what is taught in social studies classes : 2) Teachers should set learning objectives and plan lessons based on both “participation" and “contestation," understanding the strengths and weaknesses of both types of modern democracy theory, without being biased toward either. | |||||||||
