中学校「家庭生活」領域の食事にかかわる仕事を生徒が主体的に学習し実践するために世界の朝食を視野に入れた指導を試みた。飽食の時代と言われる中で, 米を主食としてきた私たち日本人の食の規則性が崩れた今, 適切な食品の選択方法や家族との食事のとり方について「食物」領域との関連も含めて考えた。自己の朝食および世界の人びとの朝食の情景を調査することで, 食生活を文化的な側面からとらえさせさまざまな食生活に気づかせた上で, 私たち日本人に主食として慣れ親しんでいる「米」に注目し, 中国では米がどのような食べ方をされているのかを知ることで, 複眼的に自己の文化を見直し, 生徒一人ひとりの家庭の食生活をよりよくしていこうとする態度を育むことをねらいとした。本稿では, 中学校第一学年を対象に「家庭生活」領域で,
