Based on the literature published between 1906 and 2012, information on the parasites of Manila clams from Japan is assembled. A total of 18 nominal species of the following protistan and metazoan parasites have been reported: Dinozoa (2 species), Ciliophora (1), Polycladida (1), Trematoda (3), Pantopoda (1), Copepoda (7) and Decapoda (3). Information on the parasites not identified to species level is also given, including those of Dinozoa, Cercozoa, Trematoda, Cestoda, Copepoda and Decapoda. Since the mid-1980s, the stock abundance of Manila clams has greatly declined in Japanese waters, and this decline almost corresponds to the import of the species from China, North and South Korea.
