| 内容記述 | 法然は『選択集』が曲解されることを恐れて、これを秘匿したという。それは、この書が論理的に証明できない宗教体験に基づく真理（本願の真実性）を公理として展開したもので、形式論理の上からでは理解できないものだからである。結果、多数の門弟の内、僅か六名しか書写を許さなかったのである。このことから、この者達は本願が真実であることを実感したことが分かるのであるが、その宗教体験とは何であるか。これを正面から論じたものはないが、法然の念仏を考えるとき重要な問題を提起するものと考える。 この問題を解く鍵は、親鸞が『選択集』を書写したとき、法然が与えた文にある。なぜなら、自らの肖像画に書く文は、本願の真実に基づく自らの教えを象徴するものであり、また、書写を許された親鸞の宗教体験を追認するものだからである。本論では、この文を手がかりに、『選択集』書写を認める要因となる宗教体験を明らかにするものである。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Hōnen (1133-1212), founder of the Jōdo-shū school of Japanese Pure Land Buddhism, did not initially disclose to the general public his major work Senchaku Hongan Nembutsushū (Passages on the Selection of the Nembutsu in the Original Vow), abbreviated to Senchakushū. He was afraid that most people would not understand the work which was based on his deeplypersonal religious experiences through nembutsu chanting. Instead, Hōnen selected only six of his senior disciples and let them copy the whole work. It seems that he trusted them as capable of comprehending his true intention. Shinran (1173-1263) was one of those six chosen disciples. Hōnen’s rare permission indicates that he approved Shiran’s faith and commitment in his nembutsu practices. This thesis investigates the elements of Shinran’s thought which convinced Hōnen to give permission to him. | |||||||||
