To reveal the conditions under which intense emotions lead to reduced GAD symptoms, we designed a longitudinal study to monitor changes in GAD symptoms among students (N ¼ 129) over 3 months. Our focus was on possible moderators of the effect of emotional intensity. Results indicated that when fear of emotions and negative appraisals about problem solving were low, negative emotional intensity reduced later GAD symptoms. Moreover, under the condition of high responsibility to continue thinking, emotional intensity tended to reduce later GAD symptoms. Results suggest that reduced fear of emotions and reduced negative appraisals about problem solving may enhance the use of emotional processing techniques (e.g., emotional exposure). The interaction between responsibility to continue thinking and emotional intensity requires further examination.","subitem_description_language":"en"},{"subitem_description":"This study was supported by a JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C) to the first author (No: 26380929) and a JSPS Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows to the second author (No: 13J40120).","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_1617186643794":{"attribute_name":"Publisher","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Elsevier"}]},"item_1617186702042":{"attribute_name":"Language","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_1617186920753":{"attribute_name":"Source Identifier","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0005-7967","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"},{"subitem_source_identifier":"1873-622X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_1617187024783":{"attribute_name":"Page Start","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_start_page":"27"}]},"item_1617187056579":{"attribute_name":"Bibliographic Information","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2015-08","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicPageEnd":"33","bibliographicPageStart":"27","bibliographicVolumeNumber":"71","bibliographic_titles":[{"bibliographic_title":"Behaviour Research and Therapy"},{"bibliographic_title":"Behaviour Research and Therapy"}]}]},"item_1617258105262":{"attribute_name":"Resource Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_1617265215918":{"attribute_name":"Version Type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_1617353299429":{"attribute_name":"Relation","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1016/j.brat.2015.05.015","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}},{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"26057437","subitem_relation_type_select":"PMID"}},{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.brat.2015.05.015","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_1617605131499":{"attribute_name":"File","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-03-18"}],"displaytype":"simple","filename":"BehavResTher_71_27.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"442.6 KB"}],"mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://hiroshima.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2006360/files/BehavResTher_71_27.pdf"},"version_id":"3066e571-94ea-4ed6-8756-8de4db566de5"}]},"item_1732771732025":{"attribute_name":"旧ID","attribute_value":"48614"},"item_title":"Emotional intensity reduces later generalized anxiety disorder symptoms when fear of anxiety and negative problem-solving appraisal are low","item_type_id":"40003","owner":"41","path":["1730444907710"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2023-03-18"},"publish_date":"2023-03-18","publish_status":"0","recid":"2006360","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Emotional intensity reduces later generalized anxiety disorder symptoms when fear of anxiety and negative problem-solving appraisal are low"],"weko_creator_id":"41","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-02-21T07:25:57.271145+00:00"}
