<dc:description>This study examines the challenges of implementing inclusive education practices in U.S. highereducation, focusing on promoting DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives. To understand howuniversities incorporate DEI into instruction to enhance the diverse student success, we conducted acomparative analysis of syllabus guidelines from higher education institutions in the United States, analyzingspecific approaches and initiatives. The study focuses on the syllabus guidelines of the University ofMichigan, the University of California, Los Angeles, Yale University, and Brown University, evaluating eachinstitution’s inclusive education policies and specific examples. The results reveal that each university iscommitted to respecting diversity and providing a flexible educational environment accommodating studentswith diverse backgrounds and needs. Results suggest differences between types of institutions. Notably, stateuniversities emphasize inclusivity as a part of their overall mission, while private universities promoteinclusive education through their educational centers. This study suggests that inclusive education practicesare essential for enhancing students’ motivation and sense of belonging to the university and promotingacademic achievement. It also highlights the growing need for this approach in Japanese highereducation. Furthermore, the paper discusses the methods of implementing inclusive education based on thesize and type of institution, pointing out the necessity for further research.</dc:description>
